Lake District National Park

5 Star Rating

Longrigg Green is a four bedroomed detached house with a large conservatory overlooking an attractive garden and orchard. It is privately situated in a quiet location in the village of Eskdale Green on the western side of the Lake District National Park.
The village lies in the beautiful Eskdale Valley which has some of the highest Lakeland peaks at its head. The neighbouring valleys of Wasdale and Dunnerdale are within easy reach. Scafell and many surrounding fells can be seen from the house.
The house is also close to the only stretch of coast within the National Park, including the ancient Roman port of Ravenglass just six miles away and now the terminus of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. This is the only preserved narrow gauge steam railway in the Lake District. The Irton Road station of the ‘Ratty’, as it is locally known, can be seen from the house and is only two or three minutes walk.

The railway provides a major attraction for both children and enthusiasts alike, as well as an ideal means of extending the range of walks and days out available from the house without using a car.
Eskdale Green itself is the largest settlement in the valley and has the usual village facilities - a well stocked village shop and outdoor clothing shop (1/2 mile) and two pubs / hotels which serve meals (1/4 & 1 mile). Gosforth (5 miles) provides a full range of shops.

Views from the house towards Birker Fell, with the ‘Ratty’ and Irton Road station and up the Miterdale valley to Scafell.
