Eskdale Stores is located in the picteresque villlage of Eskdale Green in the beautiful Eskdale Valley in the English Lake District. To many Eskdale is the most beautiful valley in the Lakes and its location of the Western side of the mountains means it is quieter than the honey pots of Ambleside, Bowness and Keswick. Whether you approach from the east via the challenge of Wrynose and Hardknott passes (not for caravans) or more easily from the coast to the west, once you get into the valley, the peace and tranquility will overwhelm you. Here you will share the peace with red squirrals, buzzards, herrons, the perigrine falcon and the occasional hoot of l'all Ratty, the minature railway that plys from the coast at Ravenglass to the foot of Scafell at Boot.
The village of Eskdale Green has had a village store since the late 19th centuary. For many years until the mid 1990’s it was owned and run by the Woodall familiy, whose relations sell the famous Waberthwaite Cumberland Sausage (including to the Royal Household). The current owners, Mark and Ann-Marie bought the shop in September 2007 and are planning to develop the business to serve the needs of both visitors to the area and the local community.
